Camellias & Magnolias 1950 Conference Report

Camellias and Magnolias
Report of the Conference held by the Royal Horticultural Society    April 1950

In April 1950 a gathering of the leading authorities on Camellia and Magnolia was held in the Society’s New Hall in London to read papers and exchange views. The meeting had been preceded by visits to gardens renowned for the two genera and a six-day tour of Cornish gardens famed for their camellias and magnolias.
This extensive report was published just six months later and is recognised as a landmark publication in the long history of the two genera, covering taxonomy, cultivation, breeding, propagation and the development of their place in our gardens today.
