Kanto, Japan, 1719 or earlier, imported into the USA by Star 1930.

Vigorous upright habit.
Flowers: small (5-6cm across) anenome form; red with a white petaloid centre.
Foliage: small smooth mid-green long oval acuminate and finely serrate leaves.
Mid season.
A miniature camellia - small flowers cover an upright shrub.
