Camellia japonica 'Hakurakuten'
Parentage unknown.
Japan, imported in the USA by Domoto 1929
H5
AM 1977, AGM (1993, 2002) 2012
Sturdy open upright growth, more spreading in shade.
Flowers: large semi-double to loose peony form; pure white.
Foliage: fine glossy deep green leaves.
Mid season.
Very frost hardy in bud, and the flowers stain less than many whites in adverse weather. One of the
best whites for outside cultivation in the UK, but a sheltered position is best.
