Camellia japonica 'Mathotiana Alba'
Unrelated to 'Mathotiana'
Parentage unknown.
Mathot, Ghent, Belgium 1858
H4
(AGM 1999, 2002 removed 2012)
Vigorous upright growth.
Flowers: large formal double opening almost flat; pure white, occasionally with a pink spot.
Foliage: dark green and glossy.
Mid to late season.
A perfect flower is a joy to behold, but the flowers are not weatherproof, and a very sheltered site is
needed for the plant to justify being in the garden.
Delightful in a cold greenhouse.
