Shirazz

Magnolia 'Shirazz'
denudata x 'Vulcan'
Syn: 'Vulden'
A conical tree that reaches 5-6m high and about 4m wide over time.
Flowers: large, tulip-shaped blooms of reddish burgundy; on opening, becoming wider and saucer-shaped as they mature; revealling gleaming white interiors. The overall effect is two-tone.
Shirazz is very free-flowering, even from a young age.
This New Zealand introduction also blooms late enough to miss most frosts.
