The rich pink flowers have a distinct colour, and are paler inside; they have 12 tepals, and are
typically 28cm across. The outer tepals reflex and the flowers point in all directions.
March/April with some later flowers in August/September.
Foliage: mid green and, although smaller the leaves are closer to
M.campbellii than
M.liliiflora.
Recognise by: the large pink flowers pointing in all directions; the colour; the open growth habit.
An outstanding magnolia. Very floriferous, and flowers young, and the colour is striking and unique.
The sister seedlings 'Early Rose' and 'Red Lion' are worthy of being better known.
