Magnolia campbellii var. alba 'Strybing White'
Flowers: large white 30cm wide, outer tepals are completely drooping instead of being flat as a saucer.
Foliage: it has the largest and most attractive leaves of any precocious flowering Asiatic species, up to 43cm long.
History: Named by Eric Walther, former director of the Strybing Arboretum in San Fransisco. Unlike plants of Cornish origin, this clone was raised from seed received form G. Ghose and Company of Darjeeling.
This is the most distinct form of M.campbellii var. alba.
The flowers are produced from seven years of age.
