Trees, 10 - 20 m tall, many branched. Bark grayish white.
Flowers: buds narrowly ovoid, ca. 30 mm. Tepals 9 to 12, white, papery; outer 3 tepals
obovate-elliptic, 25-70 mm, gradually narrower and smaller inward. Stamens 12-14 mm, grayish yellow pubescent;
styles grayish yellow pubescent, nearly as long as ovaries. Fruit 5-15 cm; mature carpels obovoid to ellipsoid,
15-20 mm, white lenticellate.
March and April and fruit in September and October.
Foliage: narrowly oblong to narrowly obovate-oblong, 100-200 x 35-70mm, thinly leathery, underside glaucous and
silvery to reddish brown pubescent.
Distribution: China - Yunnan, Sichuan, Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong and Fujian.
