Found in thickets: 1100--2300 m. in central and south Yunnan.
Flowers: very fragrant, 6-17 tepals, white, 3-3.5 x 1-1.5cm, inner tepals smaller than outer.
Buds are reddish brown, fine hairy.
March-April
Seeds: 1 or 2.
Leaves: obovate, narrowly obovate, or narrowly obovate-elliptic, 4-10 x 1.5-3.5cm, leathery, dark green and glossy.
Shrubs to 4 m tall.
