Magnolia laevifolia 'Velvet and Cream'
Cultivar of M. laevifolia, developed in New Zealand.
Flowers: selected for its large (for the species),fragrant white flowers in abundance in early spring and often again in autumn;
buds begin to develop in autumn and are covered in coppery indumentum.
March-April
Leaves: up to 7.5cm long, covered in coppery indumentum.
A sturdy shrub, to 3m tall, with somewhat weeping branches.
Best in sun to half shade with consistent summer water.
Frost hardy to about -10c.
