Flowers: 6-10/truss, tubular-campanulate, 60-80 x 30mm, with 5 wavy-edged lobes, strong red in bud, opening strong red inside
and out, unsported. Calyx 20-25mm long, strong red.
Mid-late April
Leaves: oblanceolate, 80 x 30mm, matt green, tapered at base, with a rufous indumentum when young which ages to mid-brown.
Shrub 2 x 2.5m in 40 years.
N.B. The names for these photos from Bodnant match the current label on the plant.
