Flowers: trusses of 7 to 10 large funnel shaped
scarlet flowers shading to orange in the throat with
brown speckling.
May/June.
Pointed dark green matt leaves with an
indumentum which is easily rubbed off.
Recognise by: the flowers and the griersonianum type foliage;
compact habit and hardy compared
to this species.
Perhaps the best orange shaded rhododendron.
Tolerates full sun. A very free flowering medium
sized plant. There are very many clones of this
cross. Best to purchase in flower.
