Palestrina AGM

Rhododendron 'Palestrina'
(Evergreen Azalea)
Vuyk hybrid - Vuyk, Boskoop 1926
A R.kaempferi hybrid, but the stated pollen parent 'J.C.van Tol', a Mollis azalea, is very doubtful.
AM 1944, FCC 1967, AGM (1969, 2002) 2012
Semi-dwarf erect habit; fast growing.
10 year height/spread: 100cm/120cm
Flowers: widely funnel shaped to 6.5cm; very distinctive, white with a faint green ray.
Foliage: matt pale green leaves
Very floriferous and reliable, and very widely available, though there is severe competition from
more recent white cultivars. There may be more than one clone in the trade.
Suitable for small gardens, but may need some pruning.
