Height: rarely more than 2.4m, a compact rounded shrub.
Flowers: 6-10 flowered, funnel-shaped, 24-40mm long, pink to white, flushed pink in bud with purple-red spots.
April-May.
Leaves: 65-150 x 20-35mm, oblong-oblanceolate, margins recurved, retained 1-3 years; upper surface glabrous, often pale green or yellowish in cultivation, lower surface usually with some indumentum and glands.
Introduced: c1925.
Distribution: Jiangxi, Anhui, Zhejjiang. 1,200 - 1,800m.
