Occasionally slightly fragrant.

Introduced: 1850 Hooker from Sikkim
Distribution: Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan,
S & SE Tibet, 2400 - 4000m.
Recognise by: branchlets, petioles,
leaves and pedicels hairy. Smooth red
flaking bark.
Epithet: 'fringed'
Choose a compact wide spreading
form. A long flowering season, though
early flowers can get frosted more will
survive. A good early flowering small
species.
