Flowers: often flushed pink, usually with some scent, though not as strong as in var. inequale.
May-June.
Leaves: narrow, to 15mm wide.
Introduced: 1845, re-introduced 1965.
Distribution: NE India 600-1800m, in open, forest or river banks.
This variety is usually hardier and easier to grow than var. inequale.
