Epithet: Named from the island of Palawan from which it was collected.
Introduced into cultivation: in 1998
Flowers: c100 x 90mm, bicoloured, with a yellow tube,
forming a yellow 'star' in the mouth, lobes orange.
Foliage: spirally arranged, smooth.
Shrub to 1.5m.
Distribution:
Phillipines: Palawan, Mt Mantalingajan.
This subspecies is very similar to ssp. kinabaluense from Mt Kinabalu.
